Description
Even during my active days as a collector of Black Forest specimens, good Barite specimens such as this one from the Käfersteige Mine were extremely sought after. You had to beg the few miners for months and then still come out empty handed. Fortunately, we were able to get our hands on a few specimens when we acquired old collection. Tabular, slightly curved cream white Barite crystals to a little over 1 cm are clustered in excellent rosettes. Dark Chalcopyrite crystals are sprinkled between the Barite. This is rare material from a mine that was closed in 1996, and a failed reopening in 2005.
