Description

Silvery sharp Siegenite octahedrons to 3 mm tall and with a strong metallic luster and lead-gray Galena cuboctahedrons with a dull metallic luster are associated with iridescent Chalcopyrite and translucent Dolomite rhombohedrons. The Buick Zinc Mine, near Bixby, Missouri, is located within the Viburnum Trend-New Lead Belt Mining District, which is now part of the Mark Twain National Forest. This area has a rich mining history and has been known for its significant deposits of Zinc and Lead. The Buick Mine was initially discovered in 1960 and began production in 1969. It operates as an underground mining facility ever since.
