Description
Look at this classic Azurite specimen that consists almost entirely of deep royal blue Azurite crystals up to 3 mm. What a colorful specimen! Among the classic localities for Azurite, the copper ore deposit Chessy-les-Mines northwest of the French city of Lyon occupies a prime spot. These Azurites are known among collectors as "Chessylite". Only in the last few years have pieces from China come onto the collector´s market that are roughly comparable to the pieces from Chessy. Chessy Azurites are at least as valuable to collectors as pieces from Tsumeb, Namibia, but have become rarer and, if they are of good quality, priceless.
