Description
Water-clear, glassy Smoky Quartz crystals, exceeding dark brown, nearly black in colour as so-called Morion are richly and aesthetically scattered on Feldspar matrix on this excellent specimen from the well-known Göscheneralp area of Switzerland. Good alpine Quartz matrix specimens are rare and this is a unique example of Morion. Morion is way more rare as it´s lighter brown and more common "cousins",- and the strahlers risk their lives to collect pieces such as this. To bring out a piece like this, undamaged, the collector must actually recover it in a larger plate and then haul it down the mountain. The larger specimen is later trimmed at home. It is not a collecting trip for the faint of heart. Pristine, except for the periphery wear. The pictures can´t remotely convey the quality, luster and colour of this super piece. Way better in Person,- and comes with a high quality acrylic base. Ex Joachim Hennrich Collection.
