Description
Sprays of Kyanite are not unusual. You’ll find them in a variety of highly metamorphic environments. However, Kyanite that is beige-colored like this specimen, a rare color variety which got the name Rhätizit (yes, with the umlaut) a term that is sometimes used in Germany. To bad that Rhätizit made its way into the Glossary of Obsolete mineral Names. Despite all these setbacks, this is a very good and rich specimen from the Italian Pfitschtal.
