Description
A fine specimen with typical six-sided Bastnäsite-(Ce) nestled in a vug of typically Dolomite-matrix and accompanied by a small elongated brown crystal of rare Dissakisite-(Ce). The Bastnäsite is excellent formed, sharp edged and mirror bright. The clarity is very good and the crystal is pristine. These were found at the classic old French talcum mine and locality for rare earth species, in the late 1970s, and have until now been hidden away by the collector. The productive specimen zone at the locality is, I am told reliably, simply mined out and gone now.
