Description
An excellent specimen of jet black Schorl, milky-white Pericline and stacks of Muscovite. A 1.5 cm tall Schorl crystal with all the fixings (trigonal termination, striated prsim faces and vitreous luster) is prominently perched on Pericline, a variety of Albite. The Pericline on this specimen shows an interesting crystallography. While the species is generally elongated along the crystallographic b-axis, the Pericline on this piece is tabular, exactly how German geologist Breithaupt defined the morphology originally in 1823.
