Description

A REAL Citrine, not a burnt Amethyst as most so-called “Citrine”. A nice, sharp, 6 cm measuring Quartz crystal (var. Citrine) with a typical golden to honey-yellow color with a faint smoky hue, a vitreous luster and the characteristic striation on the prism faces perpendicular to the c-axis. Smaller “sidecar” crystals adorn the prism. Some of the edges of the main crystal have minimal imperfections, but one has to consider that this is a specimen that is rarely offered for sale because it is from an unusual locality: the Lake Victoria Goldfield to the South and East of Lake Victoria in Tanzania. It is one of the most important mining sites in Africa that holds several enormous gold deposits that have been worked on and off since their discovery in 1906.
