Description
An unusually rich Manganite specimen, coming from Le Haut-Poirot, Manganese-bearing veins in a mica granite body, that were worked by a couple of small mines from 1912 to 1944 in the Alsatian Vosges Mountains, France, where it is actually fairly rare. Steel-grey, with a strong metallic luster, acicular Manganite crystals cover the matrix. With a little magnification (e.g, a hand lense) one can also see plenty of small steel gray Brownite octahedrons. Unfortunately, it is difficult to show in the pictures here. Material that is rarely offered.
