Description
A superb alpine specimen: Magnetite on Adularia from the Kollergraben (Chollergraben) in the Swiss Binn Valley, which is known for its great variety of sulfosalts. A textbook Magnetite octahedron with sharp edges and a metallic luster with just the right amount of patina is perched on an Adularia matrix with the Adularia being translucent and gemmy and hosting several smaller magnetite crystals. Aesthetic and rich in contrast! And … have I mentioned that the Binn Valley is home to 298 valid mineral species, including 57 type minerals?
