Description
A very nice miniature-sized specimen with a perfect display side of beautifully striated, shiny golden Pyritohedrons. The crystals have sharp edges and are excellently crystallized. A specimen with an incredible overall aesthetics.
We have previously pointed out the importance of the iron mines of Rio Marina on the Tuscan Island of Elba, which were worked by the Etruscans ca. 600 B.C. Pyrite and Hematite specimens from these mines set the standards for these two species for centuries, and it was not until the last quarter of the 20th century, when Peruvian mines started to provide excellent material as well.
