Description
A great specimen from the oxidized zone of the Copper ore deposit of Libethen (now Ľubietová, Banská Bystrica District, Banská Bystrica Region, Slovakia), which is one of the most important and best researched copper deposits in Europe, where copper mining goes back to the Bronze age (ca. 3300 BC to 1200 BC).
Botryoidal, smooth, deep turquoise Pseudomalachite aggregates with a satin luster on a very typical Liebthen matrix of brecciated Quartz. The Pseudomalachite is associated with small but excellently crystallized, lustrous, olive-green secondary copper phosphate mineral Libethenite crystals (Yes, this is the type locality for the later species). Classic material that is hard to come by in this form.
