Description
This is a very aesthetic and well balanced Garnet specimen from Wrangel Island, Alaska. A perfect Almandine crystal, measuring 2.5 cm on mica-rich matrix, typical for the locality. The isometric crystal shows a multitude of crystal faces and has nicely beveled edges. The color is a deep garnet-red with some translucency and wonderful muted vitreous luster. There was a time when specimens such as this one were very common on the market, but they have all but disappeared since. A superb and very aesthetic specimen with only minor imperfections.
