Description
It may sound repetitive, but the emerald green color of Tsumeb Dioptase is breathtaking, and notoriously difficult to be shown in its real green, on screen or in print. In the analog past of mineral photography, green filters have been used to get the color right, and even now with digital technology it is difficult. So bear with me when I describe this miniature specimen of Dioptase on Calcite with Duftite. Deep emerald green modified rhombohedral crystals with vitreous luster on the faces are perched on a Calcite matrix with small beige rhombohedrons. And between the crystals, a whisp of lime-green Duftite. There is some edge wear on some of the crystals but the color contrast of the specimen and its aesthetic is impeccable ... and it is a Tsumeb Diotase.
