Description
A cluster of prismatic Quartz crystals on Hedenbergite matrix from Rio Marina on the Tuscan island of Elba. The sharp crystals with a vitreous luster are translucent and light but distinctly olive green. There is much speculation about the green color, but it seems pretty obvious that microcrystalline Hedenbergit is the reason. Most of the Quartz crystals on this specimen are undamaged, however, some, especially on the edges of the piece have suffered some damage. Nowadays an not so easy to find specimen.
