Description
A vug with green Fluorite octahedrons perched on Calcite from the gneiss quarry Altenberg.. These was a very sought after specimens in the 1960s and 70s when they were discovered. However, since the production of the quarry has shifted to a different section no more veins with this material have been discovered. The more prominent of the two Fluorite crystals has a frosted appearance and is undamaged. The Calcite scalenohedrons are translucent and creme white with sprinkled with tiny Pyrite crystals. The matrix of this piece is a dense calssilicate rock (Skarn) with reddish garnet.
