Description
Schlaggenwald is the German name for the Czech town Horní Slavkov. It was founded as a mining settlement in the 13th century. For a long time, tin was one of the major mining commodities and Cassiterite specimens are plentiful from this locality. However, Topaz and Cassiterite such as this specimen is a fairly rare combination for this classic locality. The specimen is studded with innumerable sharp, translucent Topaz crystals with a glassy luster next to sharp Cassiterite crystals with a typical metallic luster. The minor dings on the piece tell us that the specimen was likely collected some time ago when some damage on a classic specimen was more accepted than today. A classic specimen waiting to be scooped up by a consummate collector.
