Description
Pyrite in a siltstone from a clay quarry on the edge of the Rhine valley south of the picturesque town of Heidelberg, Germany. The quarry has produced pyritized fossils and spherical pyrite concretion in the past. It is off limits to collectors, and parts of the quarry have been used as a landfill. That means soon the supply of specimens from this quarry will dwindle to a trickle of pieces from old collections.
