Description
Here we see well developed and excellent terminated Endlichite crystals. Endlichite is an arsenic-bearing Vanadinite. And this is a superb specimen of the classic Vanadinites-that-look-like-Pyromorphites. For the whole world, these Vanadinites look like fine Pyromorphites, and for many years they got away with this masquerade in marketing them in the late 1960s and 1970s when they came out, many years before the red ones for which Morocco is famous. These barrel-shaped crystals, up to 1,2 cm, have good caramel-brown colour, silky luster, and they are sharp edged. But this are good and unusual Vanas´, not Pyros! This is in any case a very good and attractive specimen, absolutely pristine in the center with only minor and usual contacting along the periphery. There is a slightly hopper growth on some crystals, good to see with magnification. Old stuff which disappears more and more from the market.
