Description
The Star of Congo Mine in the Katanga Copper Crescent is the Type Locality for the attractive, blue, phosphate mineral, Cornetite. These sparkling, 1 cm, radial sprays of Cornetite are the older habit from this region, and are not found today (though Cornetite is still found there in abundance as solid druses, not these isolated crystal sprays). The sprays are really quite scintillating, and the minor nodula green Malachite provides a pleasing complement to the Cornetite. Very fine aesthetics.
