Description
Here we have an nice but indistinct cluster as a large crystals fragment of Gadolinite-(Ce) from Norwegian locale Iveland of Agder. Gadolinite is a RARE yttrium, beryllium silicate found in granites and alkalic granitic pegmatites. And this is an old-time, lustrous, waxy, partially euhedral (but not complete) crystal. An interesting side note: Yttrium is a significant component of this mineral, and it was named after J. Gadolin, who actually discovered Yttrium. Impressive for the species, crystals like this, despite not very well formed, are few and far between. It masses 196 grams.
