Description
Actually, this old time locality was famous for banded white/purple Fluorites which were used for carvings and good crystallized specimens were always rare. And here we have a superb, deep violet item with superbly crystallized, cubed and stepped surface. The crystals are sharp edged as well, lucent to transparent and highly lustrous. Only minor imperfection on this stunning, classic piece. Valued in our stock with € 3500,00. Ex Jacques Evlard Collection.
Note: The name "Blue John"was given by two miners, John Kirk and Joseph Hall in the 18th century in the same style as the name ´black jack´ which was the local name for Sphalerite.
