Description

The Henderson No. 2 Mine is a Copper-Gold mine on a spit of land in the Chibugamau Lake in Québec, Canada. It is best known for its Cubanite crystals which are undoubtedly among the world´s finest of this species. This specimen offers the opportunity to add this rarity to your collection! A relatively massive yet elegant 1.2 cm measuring main crystal is prominently perched on anorthosite matrix. Several smaller examples dot both sides of the specimen. The brass-yellow, strongly metallic main crystal is excellently twinned and has a beautiful V-shaped striation following the twin plane. These Cubanites from the Henderson No. 2 mine were found in relatively small quantities in the 1970s and 1980s, and good specimens like this one were many times rarer. Definitely a “magnificent mini” and well worth its price!
