Description
Smoky Fadenquartzes from Zinggenstock are highly unusual, rare and desired. And here we have a great example of super gemmy and lustrous Smoky Quartz with that typically Faden inside. Fadenquartzes from Pakistan are now fairly well distributed due to a find a few years back, but the Swiss ones are very hard to get your hands on,- and smoky ones are even more difficult to obtain. Not to be confused with gwindels, though somewhat similar in form, these strange compound crystals are distinguished by the fuzzy "faden line" that runs through the center of the crystals, with the crystals growing out from this point in either direction to terminate in a row along either side. The major crystal atop is almost pristine, the smaller one has an imperfection. In any case a great and rare specimen and a must have for every alpine collector.
