Description
Afghanite on a tiny bit of matrix of white marble and brownish marble breccia. The crystals are not perfectly defined, but have a very good blue color and an almost vitreous luster. The species, first described in 1968, was named for Afghanistan, the country of its discovery, in particular from the “Blue Mine”, a generic name for the workings in the Kuran Wa Munjan District. A good specimen that can be considered to be from the type locality.
