Description

A Celestine specimen with wonderful, amber colored crystals: Sharp, tapered towards the terminations, which, by the way, are perfect, and with a vitreous luster. The gemmy translucent crystals are on lemon yellow Sulfur. This specimen might not be perfect, after all, Celestine has a low Mohs hardness of 3 - 3½ and Sulfur is with 1½ - 2½ even lower, this specimen is as aesthetic as can be. This is classic material from the Polish Machow Mine, which was indeed once common, but is now rarely offered, especially in this quality. The mine was a former opencast Sulfur Mine that was exploited from 1953 until the late 20th century before it was flooded and turned into a recreational lake.
