Description
Hackmannite is the photochrome (changes color upon exposure to light) variety of Sodalite that can occur in the colors pink to purple to white. In this case, it is a well-terminated, sharp crystal of pale violet color, partly gemmy and translucent, and highly lustrous. The top portion is largely pristine. Hackmannite is associated with light yellow, gemmy Richterite crystals, a relatively rare amphibole.
