Description
Here we have a superb specimen with an almost 9 cm measuring vug, richly lined with well formed, multifaced and brassy Pyrite crystals, associated with glassy and creamy Calcite rhombs and bladed, beige Siderite. But the major species is of course the Pyrite. These are sharp, textbook Pyrite pyritohedrons from the ancient coal mines of La Mure, south of Grenoble in France. This mine officially started in 1806 and closed in 1997.
